UK weather forecast latest: snow travel chaos hits London as schools close

‘Winter still in charge’

It may not feel like it but today is officially the first day of spring. However, Met Office forecaster Craig Snell has said “winter is still firmly in charge across the UK”.

He also warned that extreme weather will grip Britain for another 48 hours.

Yellow snow warnings have been issued for vast swathes of southern, central, and northern England, Northern Ireland and Wales – in place for most of Thursday.
