Samantha Markle has said the suit that her father would have worn to the royal wedding “looks like a Monopoly game piece”.
PR consultant Johnno Spence bought the outfit from men’s outfitters Oliver Brown for £2,000, according to the BBC.
Mr Spence, founder of JSC Communications, is believed to have worn the suit to Ascot during the week.
Images emerged of the PR guru smiling in a three-piece suit and purple tie surrounded by colleagues at the sporting event.
Meghan’s half-sister, Mr Markle’s daughter, said in a scathing tweet: “Well it’s a good thing that this suit was left languishing in a tailor’s wardrobe, as it looks more like a Monopoly game piece, than something one would wear in public.”
She went on to say it was “rude” of Mr Spence to wear the suit in public.
“It was rude that Johnno Spence (Meathead), would wear it in public,” she wrote.
Mr Markle missed his youngest daughter’s wedding to Prince Harry after undergoing heart surgery.
He later revealed he had watched it from a hotel room.
In an interview with Good Morning Britain he said he “regretted” the decision and had since apologised to the couple.
