Around 120 firefighters were tackling a huge fire at an industrial estate in north London throughout Monday night.
Smoke could be seen billowing across the sky for miles around as the blaze ripped through a building on Long Drive, Northolt.
The London Fire Brigade said 20 fire engines were attending the fire, which affected multiple warehouse units.
Station Manager Ben King, who is at the scene, said: “This is a very visible fire. We would advise nearby residents to keep their windows closed as there is a lot of thick smoke in the area.
“We have a lot of fire engines on the scene so people should avoid the area where possible.”
He added: “Crews are working hard to prevent the fire spreading to other units. We are likely to be on scene for a number of hours.
“Firefighters have been on scene for four hours. We’ve brought in additional resources to assist efforts to contain the fire.”
The fire brigade was called at 11.28pm. Crews from Northolt, Wembley, Southall, Ealing, Harrow and other fire stations were called to the scene.
Firefighters were expected to be at the scene for most of the night, and around a third of the building was alight.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
