Naples has been pictured under a beautiful blanket of thick snow as the heaviest downpour in half a century paralysed the Italian city.
The Siberian blast of extreme cold saw the airport temporarily close and schools shutter as temperatures plunged in the picturesque town.
The city mayor told residents not to venture out unless necessary while the education department said Naples had been “whitewashed”, according to Italian Insider.
People were however pictured playing joyously in the snow against the backdrop of the city’s historic buildings.
